When to apply?

Can I apply in August of this year for the Fall 2012 semester? When will I find out if I am accepted and be able to choose housing?

And what are considered “excellent academic credentials” according to Auburn?

You can apply for early action starting in August (as early as Aug 1) You have until Oct. 1st to apply for early action. It will only take a couple weeks for Auburn to get back to you. Last year, D knew within 2 weeks, and she applied in Sept. In terms of what Auburn is looking for academically, they list these numbers from class of 2008 on their FAQs:
The middle 50% profile for the 2008 Freshmen Class:

 • ACT- 23-28
 • SAT- 1050-1280
 • GPA 3.4 to 3.8

Please note that the stats for the classes of 2009 and 2010 were very good; the class of 2011 will most likely follow similar academic trends. An informative gauge of past class profiles can be found at this link:

(When you are researching colleges, these common data sets come in very handy – every university has them somewhere on their website.)

Auburn’s scholarship requirements section on their site will give you an accurate idea of what they would consider excellent academic credentials. These stats will obviously be higher than the median listed above.

Regarding housing: Your acceptance letter will contain an ID number and a user name. You will need these to enable your AU ACCESS account and pay a confirmation deposit. Once this deposit is received, AU then gives you access to the housing application. If you don’t already know, housing on campus is scarce, and if you want to live on campus, apply as soon as possible. Unlike some universities, freshman are not automatically guaranteed housing. If I remember correctly, you make 3 choices (in order of preference) from each housing area – one from the Village, one from Quad area, and one from the Hill. If I have this totally wrong, someone will chime in and clarify. Good luck to you in your college search!

Thank you!
