When to apply

I just finished my first semester of college and I want to apply to Northern Illinois University. I had a 1.8 GPA and a 23 ACT in HS and got rejected from NIU. I now have 12 credits done and have a 3.750 gpa (three A’s one B). Should I wait until the end of my second semester and have 24 credits before I apply or can I do it now? I am a Econ/Poli-Sci double major. Waiting makes me anxious and I really want to know if I will be going to a UC next semester.

Just checked their site. It looks like you are well above their recommended GPA (2.0) so you should probably have no problem getting in. Once their application opens (if it hasn’t already), you should definitely apply.

Are you also stating that you applied to UCs too?

But the thing is if I have under 24 credits they look at my HS GPA as well as my college one. Will my college GPA outweigh my HS One?

UC as in University of California? That deadline passed in November. At the the earliest, you could apply for it your junior year, after you have completed 60 units.

No by UC I meant University College, a 4 year institution.
