when to ask for recommendation?

<p>I am a freshman right now and planning to transfer as a sophomore.</p>

<p>I know transfer application deadline is around march, but I am not sure when I should </p>

<p>ask my professors to write me recommendation letters. When would it be a good time to </p>

<p>ask? (I am thinking about asking them after winter break... is it too late?)</p>

<p>And lastly, when should we submit our application? near January?</p>
