So DD has gotten lots of big offers so far from universities- some as high as they offer BEFORE the full tuition ones. Do universities offer the fulls now or is that more in the spring? Is it unwise for her to talk to admissions to ask if she is being considered for any of them? Or to let them know of need? Thanks!
Are you asking for merit scholarships for her to apply or automatic scholarships upon acceptance?
Which schools and have you received the final financial packages for the schools?
Have you checked the school’s website for scholarships to apply after acceptance?
For example, college A and college B have offered her their highest amount of merit scholarships. But they also have the full tuition scholarships that I have heard are given out in February or later. If she got a merit scholarship offer, does that mean she wouldn’t be offered the higher Presidential full scholarships? Is it wrong for her to ask admissions to please keep her in mind for those? She is a great candidate and its the only way we could afford those schools.
There is no harm in contacting admissions in regards to the higher Presidential scholarships especially if this would be a deciding factor in attending. Does the scholarship require an additional application or is the decision based on the application information already submitted?
Yes, check with admissions or possibly on the website. I’m sure it varies by college. At my DD’s school, she got the top automatic merit but per their website everybody in that category was also invited to interview in February for the bigger merit. If she would have gotten the Presidential, it would have replaced her automatic merit.
