When to buy AP books

when is the best time to get AP books?
i'm taking quite a few next year, and i was wondering if i should get the 2009 editions when they come out or is there barely any difference between the previous editions that i can get the current ones they have to complement class

any suggestions for the following subjects?
comp sci AB
calc BC
english language and comp
world
stat
chem

There's pretty much no difference, but you should try to get the newest edition you can. I thought they got rid of AP Comp Science. It helps to buy them at the beginning of the school year. Then you can use the books to review for quizzes and stuff. Also, usually for calc books it comes with both AB and BC Calc.

world - barrons
english lang - cliffs
stat - barrons
chem - PR
bc - petersen's

Comp Sci AB is in its last year this year.

for world i heard that pr is the best. barron's is more of a textbook than a complimentary aid for studying for the ap exam. its better if you take pr than world.

I'd buy them at the beginning of the year. Differences between each year are slight and you generally won't need the newest version. (Some classes, i.e. psychology, are changing a bit, but I had an old version of the Barron's book and was perfectly alright).

From that list, I've only taken English Lang. and Stat. I can't really recommend something for English because I didn't use my review book (Barron's) at all. For statistics, definitely go with Barron's, IMO.

Before school starts. 2008 vs. 2009 is pointless. Unless CB says, material differences won't matter at all.

comp sci AB - either "be prepared for the comp sci exam" or barrons
calc BC - "be prepared for the ap calculus exam"
english language and comp - cliffs
world - barrons. I disagree with gatorfan. PR is WAY too skimpy.
stat - barrons
chem - PR

i disagree with jamesford. PR is more than enough. my course teachers weren't the rigorous ones that gave outlines. i started reading PR 2 nights before and went up to the 1750 chapter. i got a 5

Buy the prep books now. I have a bunch of them listed out on Half.Com right now. :)
