<p>Son applied to a couple of unpaid internships during spring break. I think they were first announced in early March. One of them says recruitment staring in March, but no deadline or cutoff date. </p>
<p>My question is: how long should one wait before calling the company to find out status? Do most companies let you know if you don't get the job? Also, if the student is not in the same state where the company is located, how does the interview process work? Well, I am kind of feeling pessimistic, don't think he has a chance at all among hundreds of applicants......</p>
<p>Most companies DO let you know if they select someone else but I would “ping” the company every two weeks. It shows he is still interested and is “proactive” in getting information.</p>
<p>So many of these internship apps are online; how do you plan on following up? just curious…</p>
<p>as an example, my daughter was contacted by a HUGE multinational media corporation for a phone interview; when she called back, the number was no longer in service at the company; never heard from them again…couldn’t even find the person who called her…</p>
