hey there, I applied to UMN in early Novermber, and my status on the application tracker is "Your application is complete", and it has been more than a month since this status showed up. So when do you think i will receive a decision? There seems to be no update on my status for a long time. Btw im an international student. Thanks!

i have the same concern! my application was complete on 25th november and it was turned in before the december 15 priority deadline and the status on the application tracker hasnt changed since then!

D2 just made the Dec 15 deadline and today her message changed to, “Your application is being very carefully considered”, so hopefully some decisions will be coming soon!

Good luck to all of you!!

Fingers crossed for your D2 entomom :-)

mine came about a month later, sent it in dec 7 and status changed jan 3. i just came back from a 4 hour drive with a nice letter saying “Congratulations” across the front (:

My son applied in July and his application was complete in September. No change in status on Application Tracker for months now. Just shows his application is complete. The high school guidance counselor was worried and called to see why he has not heard anything and was told to be patient, everything was complete and his application was strong. Of course, starting to worry. Is this like being wait listed? DOes anyone know what time of day the Application Tracker gets updated?

Trojans84…Congrats on your son’s acceptance!! It seems from reading the posts on various threads that the notifications don’t all arrive the same way. Some folks saw their online status change to “accepted” before the magic envelope came in the mail, and others like your S got the envelope first. The only “semi-constant” seems to be the change to “carefully considered” means a decision (by whatever means) should be coming in the next week or so. Honors invitations seem to follow the same script…some found out online at their App Tracker page but others (like our D1) got the letter in the mail but App Tracker never showed anything. Either way, it’s all good!! Congrats again to your S. Hope U of Minn is where he wants to go!!

Congrats sasquatch and Trojans! D2s status changed on Jan 7, so hopefully the waiting will end soon, good to know that the decision could come electronically or by snail mail.

All of your required application materials have been received by the December 15 priority deadline. Thank you! Admission decisions are sent on a rolling basis beginning in November. All students who submit complete applications by the December 15 priority deadline will receive their decisions by the end of February.

its been about a month and a half …im worried

The acceptance process is concerning for 2 reasons:
- It seems a little disorganized - some find out via online, some get their envelopes and their online status (being carefully considered) still hasn’t changed. You wonder if that’s reflective of how things get done. I know it’s a HUGE uni with lots of applicants, but still …
- If you sent your app in way early, and still haven’t heard, does that mean you are on the back burner - they’ve looked at your app, you’re not the best candidate, but not the worst, so they are putting you aside to see if more qualified apps are in the pile?

Has anyone received a rejection yet, or will those all be sent out by the end of February? This wait is killing me more than my son, I think.

Yes, that’s my understanding of how rolling admissions works. I’m sure the process varies some by school, likely some are better than others in indicating to applicants what their status is during the process.

I’ve called UMinn a couple of times to ask questions and I’ve been pretty impressed at how organized and knowledgeable everyone I’ve talked to has been, even the first line college student who answers the phone. And they’re more than willing to forward you on to an adcom if they can’t answer your question.

I’m not sure why they have this electronic/hardcopy combination of decisions, that does sound like their system doesn’t have all of the kinks worked out.

Best of luck to your son!

I wonder if part of the disorganization is because they are making their decisions based on each specific college. (at least I assume they are)

Does the University of Minnesota not email you your decision as well? What about telling you there is a change in your application tracker (a decision)?

the last email i got from them EVER was my app was received…ugh

My daughter just got her acceptance in the mail today and her application was complete in September! I agree, they probably take the cream of the crop first since they are offereing them money. Then they work on everyone else. We are excited, but we live OOS so we are hoping from some scholarships in March, at lease resident tuition costs would be nice. : )

@OMGMom - Did her status change online before she received her acceptance letter in the mail?

Just received son’s acceptance from UofM-TC today, but his online status hadn’t changed as of yesterday. Hope that helps!

Thanks, TX!

I applied in October and received my decision in December. I still have yet to hear back about scholarships, which is concerning since I have friends who applied in late November and already received that information along with their acceptances.

The process does seem disorganized, as I would think they would have gotten back to early applicants by now. I am in state, so that could make a difference. I do have one friend though who got into a school at the university that he didn’t apply to, so the process certainly can be frustrating.

jeredweaverfan -my son received his College of Liberal Arts decision in Nov and his Honors decision in early December. Like you, we have not heard anything about scholarships. I did call admissions last week and they said that we would hear something by March. I don’t think she believed me when I said that many folks have already received their scholarship notices.

Does anyone know if scholarship letters come in snail mail, email or on the application tracker?
