when to expect a decision

^In D1’s case the scholarship offer came by snail mail.

Acceptance came yesterday in the mail, about a week after her Tracker message changed to ‘being very carefully considered’. Just waiting to hear about scholarships now.

Best of luck to everybody still waiting!

^Congrats to your D entomom!!! Hopefully the scholarships will work out as well and your D will be a Gopher next fall. Good Luck!!

entomom …when did she apply?

She got everything in just before the Dec 15 deadline. She’s a NM semifinalist, so that might have expedited her application.

HockeyMOm63,

Yes, her status said they were carefully considering her application for a few days… Then we received her acceptance in the mail. Her status just changed to Congratulations yesterday on application tracker but she received her packet on Monday or Tuesday I think. She applied to CBS, but they said CLA was a better fit… She’s in the top 5% for grades but her ACT isn’t. :(

I got into the honors program!

Congratulations Blackbanana! Which College?

I’m starting to feel like rejection letters all come at once towards the end of feb :(

i applied before dec 15 and my app tracker is still the same…would calling their office help? maybe?

I got into CLA. Keep ur hopes up sowhat456.

@sowhat456 - Know exactly how you feel. Son’s app was sent before November 1, and app tracker is still the same also. :frowning: It’s funny, because he basically didn’t care about Minnesota, threw together his app, went on his visit, and decided it was where he wanted to go. Oh well, we’ll see. Only another 6 weeks, right?

My application was completed Oct.7 and no decision yet. :\ I’m kind of worried,I feel like they are sending out all the acceptances, and waiting to send out the rejections till the end of Feb.

UMinn has received more than 37,000 applications for freshman admission.

"Fall 2011 Freshman Admission
Dear students and families,

Thank you for your interest in the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities for fall semester 2011.

We very much respect that your application is important to you. Admission to the University of Minnesota is competitive. As of December 2010, we have received more than 37,000 applications for admission for a class of 5,235 students. While we are very grateful for the strong interest in the University of Minnesota, the number of applications submitted–along with the academic qualifications of students who have applied–has made a competitive admissions process even more competitive.

Because of the especially competitive nature of the applicant pool, we are having to make some very difficult admission decisions. We carefully read each application individually to ensure that each student receives a fair and consistent admission decision.

We have prepared several Frequently Asked Questions below to provide detailed information about how we review applications and make admission decisions.

Sincerely,

[Fall 2011 Freshman Admission - FAQ](http://admissions.tc.umn.edu/admissioninfo/fresh_faq.html)

My application was completed in early November… Still haven’t heard back and i’m in-state :(

I am going CRAZY. I sent in my application materials late… this is what my application tracker says “Your complete application was received on December 13, 2010. All students who submit complete applications by the December 15 priority deadline will receive their decisions by the end of February. Students whose complete applications are submitted after the December 15 priority deadline will be considered for admission on a space-available basis beginning in March.” I am going insane…it seems like a lot of other people I know have been getting their decisions. I think they are waiting to send out my rejection in Feb. I bet that’s when they send them out. I am screwed! I knew I shouldn’t have applied to CSE. Has anyone been admitted, but NOT to the college they applied for? agghhh

I didn’t even know UMinn at all but they sent me a priority application (I’m in NY) and it seemed like a great school when I looked into it. I had all my stuff in by Oct 25 (they did not require an essay). I’m kind of surprised (and disappointed) that it’s taken this long and am wondering if they are just looking for out of state applicants for their stats. My high school transcript was for 3 years (they didn’t ask for senior grades) and I think my GPA is a 3.6 or so (honors, AP and NY Regents [I will graduate with an Advanced Regents diploma but don’t know if non-NY schools care about that) and my SAT was 1940 or 1260 depending on whether or not you count writing. I’m just curious about the process. Thanks to all for sharing their experience.

I applied to CSE as first choice, CBS as second choice, and was admitted to CLA. I applied on Dec 12 and got my letter in the mail Jan 20. My application tracker changed to accepted a few days after that. The acceptance letter they sent said that I had been admitted to CLA and wait-listed for my first choice colleges and would get another letter if they were able to switch me to one of them. I visited campus yesterday and it seems that if I don’t get accepted into one of those colleges and started my freshman year in CLA transfer to CSE or CBS would be likely as a sophomore as long as freshman coursework was appropriate to that and strong.

beanblossom, would you mind sharing your stats? I also applied to CSE and CLA, complete app on dec 13 and have not received a decision.

MN resident
31 ACT (35 on math)
good EC’s but not stellar
varsity soccer
3.89 gpa unweighted
2 college classes (PSEO)
5 AP classes including bio, chem, calc

I am hoping to get into CSE

Beanblossom, I would be very surprised if you do not get accepted into CSE. Your stellar gpa, good ACT, and college level courses should look very good on your application. Let us know how it goes.
