I received the congrats email just three days after my status changed to being carefully considered. Good luck to you guys all!

January 18, 2011: We have forwarded your application to the college for review. You can expect to receive a decision within the next four weeks.

Why haven’t they looked at my application yet? I’m a transfer applying for the college of science and engineering.

afurry91- I applied as a transfer student as well. What I was told was that they look over all the freshman applicants before moving on to transfer students. However, I received my decision last week. I also applied before the end of the Fall semester, so that may be why I’ve already heard. I do know that the College of Science and Engineering is currently reviewing transfer applications. My friend has already heard back from them, so hopefully you’ll hear soon!

I applied in October and completed my application on January 18 when my Fall 2010 grades were delievered. Are you able to share what kind of credentials you and your friends had that got you accepted?

I finished 3 semesters at NDSU in Mechanical Engineering and am taking 1 class (Physics 1) and a full time internship in engineering this semester. I have a 3.44 GPA… literally right on the average. I will have completed 61 credits after this semester. I feel like a bubble team on selection sunday for the NCAA, haha.

What kind of a chance you think I got? I really want to get out of Fargo, and the people I want to live with need an answer soon. Would it be beneficial to call admissions and see what kind of a time frame I can expect?

Side note: The CLA was very quick to reject me for already having too many credits… I don’t know why I put a second choice but I figured I would anyways. haha… Didn’t realize they wouldn’t accept you if you had more than 60 credits and they weren’t your first choice.

I read everything I could about CSE and didn’t find that requirement anywhere, so I don’t think I’ll get rejected for having too many credits from CSE. Especially coming from the same major at a rival school. I would think they’d be exstatic about stealing an NDSU student. Or maybe that’s just me being optimistic.

Mine finally changed today, So hopefully !!! Gophers are my #1

OOS CT
28 ACT 3.35 GPA
CLA

afurry91- My friend applied to the CSE. He will be graduating a community college with between 60 and 70 credits. He has a 4.0 tho. So I mean, the odds of them turning him down were slim in my opinion lol.

I on the other hand am a freshman transfer. So i have 17 credits from the fall and will have 31 at the end of this semester. So my application process was kinda different. I have a 3.3 college GPA and a 3.8 high school I was told that I was waitlisted mainly due to the fact that they wanted to see my Spring transcript and because the CLA was my second choice.

I believe that the CSE doesn’t cap credits because of how many general requirements they have before you can be accepted into the program. Based on the fact that my friend got in and he has over 60, I would say that shouldn’t make a difference for you.

Well, I’m kind of worried that they still haven’t gotten back to me. I know the priority deadline still hasn’t even passed though so I have no reason to worry just yet. Probably just them being a little slow. Here’s to hoping it’s next week!

Status just changed to “carefully considered.” It’s late in the month so not sure what to expect but at least we’ll know one way or the other soon.

well mine now says this:

“Your complete application was received on (some date). All students who submit complete applications by the December 15 priority deadline will receive their decisions by the end of February. Students whose complete applications are submitted after the priority deadline are considered for admission on a space-available basis beginning in March. (If your complete application was received prior to March 1, your decision will be mailed by the end of April. If your complete application was received after March 1, your decision will be mailed within eight weeks from your complete date.) .”

I guess the “carefully considered” tracker is the best.

CarmelApple- Mine says the same thing! When did you turn your application in? I turned mine in the beginning of October and still haven’t heard anything! I’m really nervous because this is the only school I applied to and the only school I want to go to. What are your stats?

I had a glitch happen, where Minnesota didn’t access my fall semester grades (because my college used a 3rd party grade forwarder, that apparently had some issues). After that, my my CLA application status changed to “your application is being carefully considered” on 2-11 and I got an acceptance letter in the mail on 2-18, which was dated 2-15. I didn’t get the congratulations message on the tracker until the 19th however.

I’ve yet to hear by from CBS, and am wondering if I should call them. My tracker status currently says, “We have forwarded your application to the college for review. If you have questions about the status of your application, please contact the College of Biological Sciences directly.”

I am very sad…On Feb.17th, my tracker status was: Your application is being very carefully considered. But last night, I gave a call to the international advisor and she told me that the committe did decline my request for CSE for 2011 fall…However, the form notification has not been came out. I don’t know how to do. What I can do, I think, is just waitting for the rejection… So “your application is being very carefully considered” is not always a good sign. Bless you all guys…

@erince didn’t they accept you to CLA? Most people I know who didn’t get into CSE were accepted to CLA event though they didn’t apply for it.

@DEV311 My application was completed early November and my states are right on the border:
gpa: 3.6
ACT: 26

Hi CarmelApple, Is that ture? I mean, UoM is my dream school. If I will be accepted by CLA, I think it would be OK…But, I have not heard the form notification and the truth is that I was declined by CSE. I have not applied CLA anyway. But the superadvisor advice me contact with the CSE international student advisor to ask him if I can appeal the deny decision. I have sent three letters to him.

But you know, in weekends, they won’t work. So I just pray he could see my emaill before the formal rejection coming out.

I think my wording was value now that I look at it. Well the people who were accepted to CLA without applying for it were waitlisted for CSE, so if it’s a straight up rejection I don’t know if they do that. Lets hope they do because I have a feeling I didn’t get into CSE but CLA would be OK.

How to make sure that one is in the waitlist or straight un rejection???

@erince they tell you whether or not you’re waitlisted or rejected.

Don’t mean to be a debbie downer here, but I am willing to bet the application tracker changes on Feb 17 “application is being carefully considered” are rejections. Just sayin.
