I'm not sure when to give out my recs out. I plan on handing them out mid december after handing out holiday presents :D, but I feel that that's a little too late yet I doubt my teachers will spend that much time on recs.

I gave mine out at the beginning of December and still had to remind some teachers to send them in as schools contacted my parents in January to say they had not received them all.

you should probably give it a month, but check your school’s policies

If you can do it, my suggestion is to give these before Thanksgiving holiday. That way, the teacher can think about writing the recommendation over the Thanksgiving break or wait until Christmas break. If you wait until Christmas break, and that teacher has travel plans or guests coming in from out of town, etc., the teacher may not be able to devote much time to your recommendation.

When you ask for recommendations, you should include a copy of the Common Ap recommendation, along with stamped envelopes to your schools. You can consider adding a statement on why you want to attend boarding schools, and a short activities/awards summary. You should also include the deadlines of your schools. Placing everything in a pocket folder helps to keep it organized.

You guys are waiting till Christmas and giving your teachers around 20 days to hand them in. I gave mine to my teachers over a month ago!!! (My english teacher is pregnant and is having the baby in the end of Dec.)
