When to go to Brown

Yay! I got my acceptance letter! Now, I need to figure out when I should visit. (I haven’t visited Brown before since I’m on the west coast)

My question for any that feel like answering is: should I go to the admitted students day? Is that better than going on just a regular day? I really just want to 1) do an overnight w/ a student 2) sit in on a few classes (including a neuroscience or community health class) and 3) talk w/ pre-meds and a pre-med advisor.

Also, for those of you that might have been accepted and gone on non-ADOCH days, did Brown personalize your visit, making sure you got to talk to the people you wanted to talk to? Is the ADOCH day better for this?

(I’m asking because it might be $50-$70 cheaper for my parents to fly me out on a non-ADOCH day; is ADOCH worth $50?)

ADOCH will provide you with all of those things. ADOCH was definitely worht it for me when I went two years ago.

Yeah, I'm wondering if I'm really going to miss out if I don't do ADOCH...I'm going in a couple days because it's honestly really inconvenient to go during the week because of school and such. Will I be missing out or can I easily tour Brown myself?

GO TO ADOCH, it's amazing. definitely worth 50 bucks.

Yeah, I mean ADOCH is a huge common experience thing where people on campus are excited and ready to welcome the prefrosh-- lot's of parties and events and just a generally fun day on campus for students as much as prefrosh. Sure you can tour Brown yourself, but there truly is nothing like being at a school during the week seeing it move in action, getting to go into classes, etc. Saturdays, especially before the weather is real nice, look dead out on campus because people are sleeping in until late or not running errands on campus so much, which are saved for during the week when they have to be on the Main Green anyway, etc.

Ugh...now I feel like I'm really going to miss o ut.

It really depends... although last year, many prospective students (myself included) loved ADOCH and basically let it sell Brown for me, others didn't like it as much. It's all up to the person. Believe me though, I personally had an awesome time... see you all in a few weeks! =D
