UF's orientation and class registration takes place during a 2 day period known as preview. There are a variety of preview dates that freshman have to chose from. If a child is attending summer B, they attend preview between May 16-17 and June 5-6 (weekly dates). If you are starting college in the Fall, the preview dates start June 7-8 and run weekly until July 20-21. The website claims that there is no difference or disadvantage to chosing any preview date over another since they save room in all of the classes for members of each preview session. I have heard rumors to the contrary. I have heard that the good classes/class times fill up in the earlier preview sessions. Does anyone have any insight or advice on this subject?

My son went to the last available preview because it was the only time he could go. He said that the classes he wanted were not available. I know they claim that spaces are saved, but I don't think it always works out that way.

I guess that also may imply that the students in Summer B (and thus the earliest Preview dates) would have an advantage over Fall students then (in terms of course registration)?

Does anyone know how difficult it is to change your schedule/class/course time later, after the registration is completed?

Seiclan-
There's a drop/add period that lasts for a few days before classes start. I wouldn't say that it's difficult to change your schedule, but sometimes it involves being online at the right moment when a space opens up -- there's a bit of luck involved.

My son was about 80% successful in making the changes he wanted when he was a freshman. It seems to get a little easier as they become sophomores, partly because they're looking more at electives than required courses, and partly because they learn how to work the ISIS system and hunt for the course sections they want.
