When to Interview?

Hello. I'm a junior. :)

My guidance counselor told me to start looking into college interviews the end of this year, particularly at Yale since I know it's my first choice. Bear in mind that this is her first year at my school and she's pretty young...

Now, I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about the admissions admissions - I'm the third kid to go through it and I was heavily, heavily involved in both my sisters' college selection and application procedures. However, neither of them interviewed until the mid-late summer of senior year.

With that in mind, do you think it would be advantageous to set up an interview (if it's even available) at the end of this year? What about having two - one next year as well?

if you're doing something cool this summer, then it might be a good idea to set up one at the end of the summer. I had two interviews in the last week of August, one at Harvard, and one at Yale, and both interviewers opened up by asking "What did you do this summer?" Since I did scientific research and community service, it was a great way to segue into my favorite extracurriculars, which happen to be those two. Just my opinion. Good luck.
