When to REALLY Start Preparing for the ACT Test

My daughter is going to take her first real ACT test in April. She's going to start taking an ACT prep class beginning the end of February. She is going to take a prep class that meets every Saturday morning for 4 hours and every Wednesday evening for 3 hours. As part of this prep class, they are going to take 5 ACT practice tests to help determine what sort of subject matter should be covered in class. My daughter also wants to purchase some ACT prep books and do a lot of preparation on her own. My question is, when should she really start focusing on going over the prep books on her own? Would it be too soon to do that now? Or is she already too late and she should have started her own prep months ago? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!
