Hi everyone! I took the June SAT and got a 1450. Now, I am planning to retake it during my junior year. I don’t know if it matters, but would there be any advantage in taking the November SATs over the October SATs? I’ve heard that more seniors take it in October.
Your out of 1600 score is unaffected by the percentile, so it does not matter when the majority of grade 12 students are taking the test. Yes, you might have a lower percentile on the October test, but the difficulty of the test and the grading curve is determined before the test is given. The percentiles are only there for your information. Many grade 12s are taking SAT Subject Tests in November which accounts for lower numbers of them taking the November SAT.
You should take the SAT when you feel the most ready to do your absolute best. Don’t worry so much about what others are doing and when. If you have a 1450 at the end of Grade 10, then you are in great shape to be in the 1500 range with a little more time and practice. You could even delay until the January or March tests as long as you continue to practice.
@academiccoach Thank you for your response! I think that I will take it in November so that I have time to start off the school year less hectic. After all, junior year is going to be crazy busy! X_X
