My d is a junior and we have visited a number of colleges but more visits are planned over spring break and the coming summer. She has started her initial list of colleges that interest her. Should she schedule interviews after she submits an application In the fall of her senior year or should she schedule interviews over the summer for most of the ones on her list whether she ultimatey applies to them or not. Thank you.
Anytime from summer to early January is fine for regular decision, although if she’s unsure about whether to apply somewhere, the interview could make a difference.
Each school handles things differently and schedules them differently. There’s no downside to her asking to interview in your upcoming travels or in the summer, if they are conveniently located – if the school even offers them. Otherwise, a) most schools don’t interview and b) those that do, will organize them locally with kids who have applied in Nov-Dec (EA/ED) or Jan-Feb (RD) of your daughter’s senior year. They will contact you – you don’t contact them.
But in most cases, even the few schools that do interview, they are either of no consequence or of the least consequence. Don’t worry too much about this.
Good luck
Thank you both for your feedback!
