General question for you guys...

Does the date when I send my application to JHU affect my chances of being accepted?

The reason I ask is because a lot of people have been telling me that the earlier that you send in your application the better your chances of being accpeted. I know this is true for schools that have rolling amdission, but does it make a difference for JHU?

Also, someone told me that even if a college doesn't use rolling admission, when the admissions people do look at the applications, they look at the applications in the order in which they were recieved. Is this true?

Any response will be appreciated.

(BTW I'm applying ED...I don't know if this changes the situation)

No, the date you submit your application does not affect your chances of being accepted. Just make sure to meet the deadlines.

The files are distributed to the counselors in no particular order and applications completed early in the process will be reviewed by the committee again before final decisions are rendered.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply...

Just out of curiosity why is it then, that everyone (my older friends and guidance counselor) keep stressing the fact that I should send out my application early? Is there any benefit other than simply knowing that all your stuff got to the office on time?

To get your stuff in on time. With about 12,000 applications - each application on average 10-12 pages -- that is a lot of mail and a lot of paper. It is always better to be safe than sorry, as my dad says.
