I apologize if this question has been asked before.

Several of the colleges to which I am applying have deadlines of November 1. I haven't sent my (September) ACT to all of them yet. I know that ACT is sometimes sluggish with the scores. Do the schools have to receive the score by November 1, or do I have to send it by November 1? (Or does this vary by school?)

November 1 deadline means you are applying EA or ED. All such colleges accept scores, even scores through October test date, that arrive after Nov 1. A number even take SAT II scores from the November test. As to expectation, most like to have the SAT or ACT scores in their hands by Nov 15. In any event, you have no reason to wait and should get on-line now and order the scores sent; you do not have to wait until yolr application is finished since they start file on you as soon as they receive either the app or a test score.

I should've clarified. The schools I'm applying to have priority filing periods or early notification for November 1. (U of I, IU, October 31 for U Michigan)
