When to start preparing to move in?

<p>I still didn't receive any acceptance yet (it's still January). I'll probably end up going to a UC or private in California.
But I'm gonna travel overseas this summer, as I'm booking tickets now, I really wanna know when I should get back in order to start preparing to move in? Is there anything that I have to do in the middle of the summer break?</p>

<p>There’s usually orientation in the middle of summer and move-in is usually in late August (or even in September at some schools).</p>

<p>For the UCs, move-in day is late September (for fall 2011, move-in day was the 3rd weekend of September). And if you can’t make it to orientation in the summer, you can do a make-up orientation during welcome week.</p>
