When I asked a professor/TA about something and they responded, should I send another email to just say thank you? I know that this is a polite gesture, but I'm afraid that some may feel annoyed because I'm spamming their inbox... What do you guys think?

It’s not a big deal, just say thanks the next time you see them in class.

I think a “thank you” is always a good idea. Whether in person or by email. If you’re going to be seeing them in person the next day or within the next couple days, I’d just wait and tell them in person. If you won’t be seeing them for a while, I’d send a quick little thank you note though.

In reality though, they probably won’t even notice if you don’t. If it’s just a simple question like “Which exercises were we supposed to do for homework,” I’d say that a thank you isn’t strictly necessary. But, if they’re actually helping you with a specific issue or problem that involved something more than typing out “Section 5.1 #'s 1,3,5,12 and section 5.2 #'s 4,7,12,17” or something like that, I’d send a thank you.
