When to take SAT and SAT Subject Tests

I was wondering when do students normally take SAT and SAT Subject tests in USA. In Junior or Senior year? And if junior year, do you inform college board about the choice of the institution to which you want your scores to be sent to?

thanks

SAT - junior year, possibly early senior year if necessary
SAT Subject Tests - varies, generally recommended after completion of corresponding AP/Honors class

To inform colleges of scores, there are two options.

  1. You can send scores to 4 colleges of your choice for free, provided that you don’t previously see your scores. Check the College Board website for the exact number of days you have after taking the test to take advantage of free score reports.
    OR
  2. For a fee, you can send the official score reports to colleges upon receiving your score. This is ideal for people taking the test during junior year because seniors will typically send in scores (without seeing them) to their early action/regular decision schools to meet deadlines set by the universities.

Hope this helps! Good Luck! :)

It was very informative indeed. Thanks for helping me out!
