When to take the SAT

Is is true that the best time to take the SAT's are in October, November, and December because a lot of dumb people take it fast?
When does the "nerds" take the SAT's?

No, that’s a misconception. “Equating” ensures that the scores of a particular test date won’t affect your scores (it was in some CB whitepaper).

It does not matter when you take the SAT. Taking it early allows you to send your scores to the colleges on time.

Sorry about asking a question in someone else’s thread but I’ve already taken my SAT (got my scores the 23rd) and I did great compared to my school, but I think I bombed… The next time I can take it over is in January but I seriously don’t want to wait until January to start applying to colleges. So should I apply with my not so great SAT and not so great gpa just to throw my name in there or should I wait?

ctrl09 - just apply and then send in your jan scores right away. That is fine for RD.

Also, HEro - it does not matter when you take the SAT - the scores are normed by the CB with a formula in order to adjust for differences in the tests, etc.

But the thing is i’m worried about applying and then getting rejected… no point in sending scores to a college that doesn’t want me

^ No, you don’t understand. Email your colleges and ask if they accept January SAT scores if you put the college’s name on the SAT registration. I’m in the same position, and so far all the colleges that replied said yes. They just won’t get your scores until February 11.

Oh ok thanks, when can I expect to hear from colleges if I apply by 12/15?
Sorry for having so many questions lol
