When to take USH SAT Subject test?

So I’m currently in APUSH and doing pretty well. The AP exam is on May 10 and the SAT Subject Test is on May 7 (or June 4). Is it okay if i take the SAT Subject Test 3 days before the AP exam or should I wait until June 4? I sort of want to take the AP Exam first just so I can know if I’m ready for the subject test but I also don’t want to wait an entire month after to take the test.

*NOTE: I did post this in the History forum but I then realized that was basically begging for my thread to be dead so I reposted it here.

If you think you’re doing fine in APUSH, it wouldn’t be a problem for you take the SAT Subject Test on May 7 (it’s good practice). However, if you want some extra time between the AP exam and the SAT Subject Test, June would be the better option. I usually take all my subject tests in June after I finish all my AP exams in May, but that’s just my personal preference. It shouldn’t make a difference if you have the necessary history knowledge.

I would do it in May. You are pretty much prepared for the AP exam at that point and it covers pretty much the same material. If you really feel that you aren’t ready, you don’t have to submit the score and it gives you another opportunity to take it again in June later on. Besides, you could always use the subject test to practice for the AP test, so its all about perspective

One of my friends told me that it’s crucial to do well on SAT Subject Tests just because if you hide a score, colleges will know and thus assume you did badly. Is this true? If I retook the subject test would colleges superscore it or…?

@tupac4 Depends on your college that you are applying to. Some will require all, while others will allow you to send what you want.

Personally, I’d recommend taking it in June. While you are fresh off of the AP exam in May, I found the two tests to be incredibly different. The AP exam gives you a little passage or document and then asks you questions relative to that-which is much easier than blatantly asking you a random historical fact. The subject test on the other hand, is all multiple choice but very very detailed (cant use context clues like in the ap exam) and provides no extra information.
I got a 5 on the US exam, but only a 670 on the subject test in June. I wish I had taken more practice subject tests, and studied more to that test format. Some of the questions are very weird/random like Who wrote this book and such, so the time between May and June could be used to plan a strategy of when to skip questions, or studying more intensely.

Don’t fret about it too much man. You seem like a great a student, and a 5 will feel so rewarding

APUSH date is May 6th Friday, No?
Not sure if it changes anything though.

ya apush date is may 6th. so if you’re up to it you could take apush then the next day take us history.

loud gasp Wow! I didn’t know that. I might take the Subject test right after the AP, then.
