When to take what

I'm a junior; my hypothetical testing schedule is listed below:

May: AP Exams (EngLang,USH,Psych,HumGeo,EnvSci)
June: SAT IIs (Math II,USH)
September: ACT
October: SAT (this is the first SAT after June's, right?)

Would the aforementioned schedule still give me an adequate amount of time to apply to top universities? I heard that many students begin preparing applications the summer of their Junior year. However, with my hypothetical schedule, I wouldn't be able to officially apply to desired universities until sometime in November.

It depends on if you want to apply Early Decision. The deadlines for Early Decision vary by college, but they’re usually around Nov. 15. I think you should try to take the SAT earlier jsut to give you more leeway.

I should have mentioned that I’ve already taken the SAT once in January 2009, but I’m not satisfied with my score so I’ll be taking it again this October. That’ll give me the entire summer to prepare and I’m sure my score will drastically improve.

I personally am going to take the USH Sat II in May. Might as well kill two birds with one stone and get it out of the way. I have a good teacher, who prepares every pretty. He said 30% of the class typically gets 4 +5s, which translates to 650+ I assume.

I personally wouldn’t take the USH SAT II test. From what I’ve heard it is extremely difficult. And this is coming from a school full of Asians who are instructed under an excellent history department. Unfortunately the same can’t be said about the department that sparks my interest-- science.
