When to Transfer ?

Hello everyone, I am a current freshman at Rochester University.
First of all, briefly saying my stats,
college gpa (first semester): 3.66
HS GPA: 3.93
SAT: 2210
no sat 2's taken.
country- US citizen.

I am trying to transfer to cornell next year, preferrably spring semester.
Since I am GT holder from cornell, I am 100% in if I apply for spring semseter transfer.

Yet, I think i can get 4.00 or so close to it next two semesters. Then, I would prolly get 3.86ish. That speaking, I think i also have a chance for upenn or columbia, possibly even yale. (under assumption that I write an astonishing essay)

What should I do? Do you guys think I stand a chance for other ivies such as penn or columbia as well? or should I just stick to my GT plan to cornell? IF I don't apply for spring semester next year, i will be no longer a GT holder.

MY point :
Plan A: If I apply for spring semster which is only for cornell, I will be accepted 100% ( i guess since GT) and go to cornell.
Plan B: Just discard GT from cornell. Apply for Penn, columbia, or yale for contingent admission for fall semester.

THank you for reading this

I think you should call Cornell and ask them if you can use your GT option for the fall of 2012 rather than the spring. Just tell Cornell that you really want to go there but are not comfortable entering in the spring.

If they don’t let you defer, then I think you should apply to Cornell as a GT and go there in the spring. Once you’re at Cornell, you can work on transfer applications for the fall (if you still want to transfer).

This plan might sound rather extreme, but you don’t want to waste a spot at Cornell. Columbia, UPenn, and Yale are extremely difficult to transfer to, and with your stats, these schools are probably reaches.

bump bump bump
