im really really nervous...i know the deadline for the schools are as follows:

UC's/CSU's -- November 31
Privates -- End of December, Beg. of January
Private EA, example Yale - November 1
BS/MD/Other special prorams -- December 1

Have people already turned in their common apps three or four months before the dealine? Is it bad if you turn in stuff like 2-3 weeks before the deadline? Does turning in late, as in 2-3 weeks beofre the deadline, hurt your chances, or turning in early help you?

Do colleges read as the applications keep coming and decide who they want to chose before the deadline, so that applicant that applies later has no chance? For example, I am applying to YALE EA, DUE NOVEMBER 1. When should i have this application ieally turned in by?

If you are happy with your essays, submit your Yale application. You would have a better chance of getting an interview. According to my D's GC there is no advantage of submitting application early, especially for those top tier schools.

I attended Caltech's preview weekend this pas year and I quote from the dean of admissions adressing us the potential incoming class, "Of the ___ number of people accepted this year, 50% of you submitted your application on the deadline." Or something to that effect. It does not hurt your chances at all.

Unless a school has rolling admissions or decides applications on a per-audition basis (like many music schools do), it will not have an effect on your chances.

hhaha..my birthday's on nov 30 as well, i have to keep telling ppl that theres only 30 days in nov everytime they accidentally say "on the 31st of nov....blahblah.." lol

I recommend turning them in early as it forces you to get them done. The advantage may be at your HS, where the teachers and GC will be innundated nearer the deadlines. Hence, you can get a more thoughtful rec if you go early and they are not under pressure.
