My D is excited to get down to NOLA and visit, and she'd really like to go during a "happening" week (my word LOL), like jazz fest or something. Our spring break coincides perfectly with the NCAAs so it's been tricky considering hotel rooms as they seem to all be reserved.

Does it make sense to visit during one of these times, or try for a week when there's fewer distractions so we can focus on the school? I can't imagine wanting tour a campus with that jazz fest lineup just miles away....

If this is your first time comin’ down, I do suggest to pick a date somewhat low key.

However, I think Jazz Fest would be fine, though, as most of the commotion happens in Mid-City/around city park, and therefore would be away from the Uptown capmus of Tulane. In fact, even if you came around the Final 4, most of the tourists would be around downtown, and somewhat far away from campus, anyway.

Definitely avoid Mardi Gras though. For real.

I personally suggest around March, because the weather in NOLA during this time is altogether perfect. Simply beautiful. The later in the school year you wait, the hotter it’ll be.
