I just called Yale. The recording said they'd MAIL out the letters December 15th and the decisions would be online December 16th at 5:00 pm

Well that's an interesting little nuance, isn't it?

In the confirmation letter, they said decisions would be online at 9 am on the 16th.

ok ivyboy, yeah I just called and got that... this is very odd because they changed the recording

when I called this morning (wanting to know if my rushed nov scores were in), the recording said that they would mail out letters on the 15th and decisions would be up on the same day at 5 pm....

Yeah, but jb13, it will feel awesome when you finish your physics test to find out that you got accepted!

haha Sara, I hope so!!!!

uggh I have a basketball game Dec 16th:(
I am glad you all called though! Way to take one for the team

I am not sure if I want my parents with me when I find out. I definitely want them home so I can hug them crying (either way I will cry), but I want to see it first. I can't have my mom looking over my shoulder like that. I don;t even want to think about this-- too many disappointed feelings in advance

I definitely want to find out by myself and to be left alone for awhile afterwards so I can process it all.

even if you are accepted?

Yeah. It'll be an incredibly emotional moment no matter what. I'll want some time to myself.

yeah.... I don't know how to tell people I was rejected. That's why I decided I'm not going to tell anyone (at school) the result for a week or so because everyone is going to ask everyone who applied early, "Did you get in?!" And then when I say "No" They will say the generic response: "Oh. silence It is their loss. You still have tons of great schools to apply to!" Yeah I don't need that especially because it is those same people who are always saying "Shut up! You definitely got in!" Yeah. No one in the school knows where I applied yet either. mwuhahahaaaa Evil schemes rock.

yeah. in most cases, ive found that if u dont talk about it, neither will your friends. actually.....this totally depends on your friends. my friends tend to be chill, usually we dont talk about this stuff, so itll be nice for me when im like deferred/rejected, so no one will ask me. a couple of kids will though. yeah actually i dont know whats gonna happen, even if i get in, i dont want to come off as some pompous ivy league fool, so ill still stay cool about it for a little bit.

Yeah, my school likes to take it upon itself to advertise everything I do at all times, so there will be no escaping the questions on the 16th. I'll just make a sign and tape it to my shirt.

My school has a really nice cameraderie in this process, especially among those of us with EA or ED apps out-- it's really friendly. It is annoying though, when people don't realize just how competitive the pool for Yale et al is, and how unpredictable admission is.

It's annoying for parents too. I have a friend who's son is applying to Penn and I know she's going to come up with a pretext to call me and then she'll ask if s was accepted. That's what she did last year when the SAT scores came out. She's not even subtle about it.
