"Evanjones, What is your son majoring in? What is his opinion of the school after being there a semester?"

My son is majoring in Character Animation. He loves CalArts. It is more than he imagined - both the art experience and the amount of work. They are encouraged to push the artistic envelope. They get real, honest critiques from the faculty, their peers and outside experts (industry animators in his case).

"For all those wondering about CalArts Acting, I got my acceptance in the mail today, indeed, it's clear enveloped, congratulations at the top on the back. Postmarked on Friday the 27th."

I'd like to assume that they sent all the letters out on the same day but I know that might not be the case. If it is and my letter (acceptance or rejection) from the Experimental Animation program is on its way, I should probably give it 3-4 days to get here. I live in DFW Texas...

But yeah...I see 3-4 days of stomach pains in my future. The postman better stay sharp or he won't see me coming when I pounce.

eeeek, it wasn't my intent to send anyone into a panic, just to inform that the letters for Acting at CalArts have at least started being sent out. I'm sure they do it in waves, just like every other college that insists on torturing it's applicants. So don't fret, but be excited because it could mean mail in the next few days :) :)

Also, it seems like from what's been posted on here that different programs are sending out letters at different times on top of all that. So who really knows.

My D got her acceptance to CalArts Acting today too. I thought it was a party invitation. But she knew a girl who was accepted to dance a few days ago.

Don't worry. You aren't the cause of my panic...it's that 8-10% acceptance rate. But whatever happens, life goes on. I have UCLA as a back up. I just really want CalArts to like me because the feeling is mutual.

I am dying waiting for this letter haha has anyone received a letter from the film/video department? Does anyone know when those letters are sent out.

Congratulations to everyone who got in, and fingers crossed for all those who are waiting :)

NYU's letters go out so that they arrive on or around April 1. However, they have started to send out letters to their 'events' like Saturday in the Square or Sunday in the Square. These events are not for every applicant who will be accepted (so don't worry too much if you don't receive one) but they are for the top students so that NYU can attempt to convince them to accept the offer that is coming their way. :)

Still waiting... I have a question, though... Since we are new to this whole college thing, is it bad form to call or email to ask about admission? I on't want to helicopter too much, but I am concerned that my son has not heard anything.

he-art - Big congrats!! You have done an amazing job! :))

I'm pretty persistent about emailing as I am extremely nervous. The response I continue to get is "Going out in March, let me know if you don't get it by April 1st".

I applied for the Character Animation program and it's really killing me not knowing! I even applied for the Dec 1st deadline! I want to know what's ahead in my future already!
