When will BC reply for EA applicants?!

Everything I’ve heard says BC will send out decisions Dec 15 (although in the mail, we won’t get them until the 18th), but when I checked BC’s website again, I found this:

Students planning to enroll in September 2011
-Early Action Admission decisions will be mailed by December 25, 2010

Does anyone know when we’ll ACTUALLY hear back?! I am so beyond anxious!

Thanks Guys!
Grace

Read the “Agora Portal - Applicant Status” thread.

Thanks- I actually have been reading through it but I’m still kind of unsure. Everyone seems to be saying different things!

my friend has a sister in admissions and she said they mail them the 15th. I also emailed someone in admissions (i’m an anxious applicant myself) and she said they mail the 15th too but from what ive read in the Agora thread, you can apparently see if you are accepted or not if you have extra tabs on the 15th in your Agora profile

hahahah yeah i read that whole thread front to back and it made me sooo nervous! thanks for the info…tomorrow just needs to not exist so we can all find out and be put at ease already. :)

good luck to everyone applying!

I just spoke with admissions. The man I spoke with said that letters would be mailed out sometime over the next week. Luckily, my son is not nearly as anxious as me…lol:)

Letters go out tomorrow.

maserrano, are you sure?

He spoke with a BC rep last week, and they said letters would be going out Wednesday at the latest.

I called Admission office at BC today. They are not mailing out this week. She said next week. My guess is Monday.

They seem to be flip flopping with their answers each time some one calls. Next week is the official time that is posted on their website. I think they may send earlier.

I told her the truth…my son doesn’t want to go away this weekend to visit an elderly aunt in Pittsburgh because he thinks his decision will be arriving in the mail on Saturday. There won’t be anyone home to read it, so he wants to stay behind to get the mail. She laughed and said it will most certainly not be arriving on Saturday as it won’t be mailed out until next week.

Text of adcom’s email: No, you are all set. Your application has been reviewed for Early Action you should except a decision by the end of next week. Keep checking the mail after Wednesday….that is when we are mailing the letters. Thanks and Happy Holidays.

No name given for privacy.

That was sent on 12/7

Dear gracerose : History over the last several years shows that the postal mailings begin between approximately December 15th and December 17th.

Dear hopeful97 : Yes, the Agora Portal has been a strong early indicator of acceptance based on the tab count as well as the “make your deposit” option. Now, the characteristics change each calendar year and are likely to be slightly different this year also.

Dear juniormom93 : Both of my children are currently attending Boston College and both are part of the admissions/recruiting functions (greeters, tours and such). Letters/packages are slated to start moving out this week between Wednesday and Friday. As for being home of the letter or not, the end results will not change. As we have said in other threads, have your child ready his/her regular decision applications BEFORE the final Boston College letter is received.

Dear maserrano : " … you should except a decision …" - please tell me that this is not taken verbatim from the mailing.

Thank you scottj. Any idea when the tabs will be updated?

It is. Follow up email she corrected. I can screen shot if needed.

thanks scottj…they’re all done and in…that doesn’t help with the anxiety my S has regarding his top picks though! By the way, what kind of envelope do acceptances come in…is it the old “fat vs letter size”, or something different?

I heard it was a large envelope. We received a large envelope today from Massachusetts. It was from Smith College asking my daughter to apply. They really should not send advertisements in large white envelopes!

^lol. I could see this used as a marketing strategy: “If you apply, you could get another big envelope in April”.
