<p>My daughter got her notice yesterday – New York City. Admitted-- good financial aid package as well.</p>
<p>If I don’t receive a mail today, I guess I can safely assume that I was waitlisted/rejected, since Fed-Ex usually takes 1~3 days. Oh well, hope it comes today!</p>
<p>@winterspring: the decisions were mailed back in 19th. If it doesn’t come to you by today, you are not admitted.</p>
<p>I’m in central Europe. Received the letter a few hours ago. The letter was dated on the 19th.</p>
<p>Decision: Waitlisted</p>
<p>Objective:
SAT I (breakdown): No clue.
ACT: 33
SAT II (if submitted): Math L2: 770, Math L1: 700
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.98 Weighted: No clue.
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 1/124
Senior Year Course Load: Multi-variable calculus, AP Physics C: M & E/M, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Literature.
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): None that I’m aware of
Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): National Honor Society, MUN, Debating Club (leader), Amnesty International, Rowing/Crew, CrossFit.
Job/Work Experience: I had an internship at a research laboratory for most of the school year. It took place during school hours, which is why I only take four classes (physics and multivariable are one class; they’re not traditionally offered at my school and I have a brilliant math/physics teacher who agreed to teach me). Of course, the real reason that my course load is minimal is because I have little to no enthusiasm for the high school grind.
Volunteer/Community service: I’m not nearly that altruistic, sorry guys.
Essays: Good, I did them about three hours before the deadline.
Teacher Recommendation: One was good, as I “sort of” saw it in that my teacher just copied and pasted from the recommendation in effort to save time writing my semester report card comment. I presume the other was good given that the teacher is an absurdly talented writer.
Counselor Rec: I don’t know. He’s bat****, so let’s not get our hopes up.
Interview: None.
Other
Applied for Financial Aid?: No.
Intended Major: Physics
State (if domestic applicant): Live in Europe, but I think I wrote I have a residency in CT.
Country (if international applicant): I’m not divulging this fact.
School Type: Private
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: I thought it’s impolite to discuss income. C’mon, CC.
Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): The institution at which I did my internship is extremely prestigious and has generated two Nobel prizes, so working there probably looked pretty good.
Reflection
Strengths: Eh.
Weaknesses: Apparently, doing varsity sports in places where they don’t exist tends to be rather difficult.</p>
<p>And now I must languish in my perceived inadequacy. It’s okay. I intend (and did so prior to receiving my Carleton decision) to go to Reed.</p>
<p>Guys, I think you are putting a little too much faith in the U.S. Postal Service. </p>
<p>Sometimes, for whatever reason, two people in the same general area receive letters on different days even if they were mailed from the same place at the same time. If you don’t get your letter today, do not panic. It’s impossible to definitively say that anyone who does not hear by today has not been admitted. You are not rejected until you get a letter that tells you so.</p>
<p>International decisions started hitting the mail boxes; news should come soon.</p>
<p>D got her acceptance here in GA. Very happy–no money other than NM, but was expected.</p>
<p>Thank you, Jamiecago. But I have already been admitted. In fact, I was ED candidate. I am just waiting for my friends’ decisions.</p>
<p>@winterspring: LOL how did you know that I don’t consider Carleton one of my top choices? I do consider it a great choice and that’s why I am here freaking out! :(</p>
<p>all domestic decisions were sent through the regular mail; not getting it yet is absolutely not indicative of a waitlist/rejection. </p>
<p>international decisions have been fed-exed.</p>
<p>Accepted! just got the package this morning here in British Columbia.</p>
<p>@ unitofobscurity: Did you receive your package by FedEx?</p>
<p>International… and still haven’t received any word from Carleton yet.</p>
<p>Any internationals able to shed light as to what postal service they use?</p>
<p>I think it was FedEx last year? Maybe UPS, but I don’t think so.</p>
<p>@winterspring: Oh, I thought you were international.</p>
<p>If a letter was Fed-Exed…we should have received by now.</p>
<p>Jamiecago,yeah, I am international.
just wait one more day.</p>
<p>Apparently the decisions are sent by Fed Ex for internationals, because I just received a notification saying the package arrived in France, and should arrive in Paris tomorrow.</p>
<p>are you notified about your package??? {sorry, I’m using FedEx to SEND, not to receive mail :)}</p>
<p>Alright, good luck everyone.</p>
<p>
</p>
<p>people still waiting – don’t fret! i live in new york, and i just got my acceptance letter today.</p>
<p>Stillllllllll waiting…</p>
<p>Congratulations lorlor :)</p>
