WAITLISTED
whyyyyyy
4th waitlist.
Seems like the waiting will never end for those of us on the waitlist for several schools. I can only hope that at least ONE of the 4 (maybe more with the Ivies) might accept me, right? Right?

Some people seem to have gotten as many waitlists, but perhaps I am unique in having applied ONLY to the top schools (no safeties), and getting waitlisted at all (so far)? I think all my colleges are either in the top 10 LACs or Top 10 Universities.

I am going to get waitlisted at Macalester. I can feel it in my bones. Darn arthritis, lol.

I must go and pray to Maria Laskaris, the dean of admissions at Dartmouth.

iabin: Hm. Time to look at the lists of schools still accepting applications, just as a safety I think. Odds are good that one of the wait lists will come through, but I think if you have a safety lined up things may feel different. Good luck.

I need full aid at any university I get into. Any less, and I can’t go, so safeties are out of the question. If things don’t work out this year, I’m applying again, next year.

Anyway, I didn’t want to apply to a school I wouldn’t be fully happy at or where I felt I would be underselling myself. I know it may be thought of as childish or unreasonable, but that’s just the way I am. And yes, the aid thing would prevent me from applying anywhere but a Tier 1 university.

So I could be accepted into a university still, or pulled out of the waitlist for these five, or I could take a gap year. I’m happy any way :D

Bard is a really good LAC that totally meets full need. Both of my kids had that as a back up school and the aid package was comparable to Williams and Barnard.

The kids I know there have gotten excellent educations.

But by all means, iambin, you have to follow your own lights. I was just trying to help.

iabin - if I recall correctly, Mac isn’t a Top 10 LAC - I think it’s ranked 29th? As well as Oberlin (22nd)…Neither here nor there, but it just caught my attention.

Anyway…I really liked you, Williams, but I guess it just isn’t meant to be…stupid waitlists.

No problem, I didn’t mean to be annoying, I just was a little surprised when I read that. Good luck with your schools, though! When do you hear from Mac?

(this is me slowly waiting for the ivies…haha)

I got accepted into another ivy as well, but I checked Harvard before that. I saw the word “delighted” in the first line and went delirious! Then my parents went delirious. It still hasn’t sunk in.

Thank you for the advice, mythmom. That was very much appreciated. And thanks to JohnAdams12 as well; your hoping paid off for me.

I was planning a year off just before the acceptance, but this shattered all expectations. ;)
