So I am expected to receive about 12,000 including loans, but only 1,500 payed out.
In my case what would i have to do? Also UG Scholarship shows on my award, and it says confirmed, but it doesn't appear on my payment status.

Anyone have these problems? It says it's due by 15th and idk what i should do.
Any comments??

My son is still waiting on the Berkeley UG scholarship also. I don’t know what’s taking so long. They said it would fund “soon” when I spoke to them last week. As for the loans, all of my son’s have funded but the Perkins loan. Did you do your loan counseling?

The MyFinAid site is late to update. Sometimes a week late. The Payment Status/Payment History tabs on CARS and MyFinAid don’t really help for what you are looking for. They are either not updated, or show what you paid directly (not what financial aid paid).

The important info for you at this point is knowing what you need to pay. (Since your first CARS bill was due yesterday.)

Go to your BearFacts and click on the CARS tab – then the Quick Statement. As far as getting the most up-to-date info – this is your place. It updates daily. It shows you what needs to be paid by you based on what was not covered by the loans and grants etc. you received.

For example:
I had my Cal Grant A, 740 in UG Scholarship and about 4500 in loans for the whole year.
Halfing all of this (to account only for fall), my aid package was 7772 for this semester. My Quick Statement showed 748 until Friday and 0 as of Sunday (when my loan paid out).

Later – when MyFinAid updates and details what aid has been paid out, you can get a better picture of everything. At this point, it’s not necessarily important though.

I’ve found the Award Payment Status link on MyFinAid to be accurate and up to date. I use this to see what financial aid has been paid out. I check CARS to see what is due, but I don’t have any other way to see which financial aid has funded. My son has his entire cost of attendance covered by financial aid (scholarships, grants, loans) and I need to know which he is still waiting for. The Award Payment Status is the only place that shows this. I agree about the CARS quick statement being the only accurate place that shows how much one owes though. That’s great advice because everyone seems to be looking at the ebill instead of the quick statement.

was anyone able to connect to FA office via phone?

Oh, it’s possible. You just have to call and call and call and call. Did I mention calling? Eventually you will get through and they will say “You have not more than 14 people ahead of you.” You then hold and hold and hold and hold… Get my drift? Hang in there.

@samkim

yeah i called called called called starting 10 am and finally got on # 14 around 12:30 and # 3 at 1:30ish and my phone got disconnected …
i was so ****ed… and now im going back to step # 1
eff … really

Oh no. I’m so sorry… Hang in there.

Yep anyways they said they are giving grace period until 9/10 and told me don’t worry about late fee . That part was okay and also said they hope to get this mess fixed up buy next wk which I hope that really happens

momfirst3:

To call financial aid – I’m pretty sure you have to wait until they read all the options before you can hit the button to speak to a person. Otherwise it will disconnect you.

They really mean it when they say, “please listen to all the options before choosing.”

You still have to wait a few hours to speak to someone – but this will speed it up a bit.

Also – my award payment status only shows my loans as being paid out.

It doesn’t even have a place for my UG scholarship and my Cal Grant says 0 for being paid out, yet my quick statement suggests otherwise.

I hear you. I listened to all the options. I didn’t get disconnected. That was someone else. My son is still waiting for the UG scholarship to be shown on his award payment status too. His Cal Grant has paid out though.

dancefloor, just thought I’d let you know I’ve got the exact same thing going on. Don’t worry, I’m sure it’ll be fine.

im in the same situation about 7000 dollars to be paid…

as of what i know about UG scholarship is that

cal matches you they match the amount by giving you random scholarships

so it wont show that ug scholarship will be paid but you should have similar amount of money given as different (or random) scholarship…

@dancefloor: as for your cal grant, I would check webgrants to see if you have updated your graduation info and other requirements, if any. I realized this too only last week, so who knows how long it would take until the cal grant would actually pay out :/
