So I just finished applying yesterday & I'm an auto admit but I also applied to McCombs. I was wondering if any of y'all knew when I would be accepted to ut and when I would be accepted to mccombs. I heard something about an October 15 deadline that they will give you an early decision if you apply before that, but when do they give you the decision?
Thanks tons!!

If you are in the top 8% then you will get an email within a week or so saying that, while you are still under review for a specific major, you have been accepted to the university and Undergraduate studies at the very least. McCombs could take a while longer depending on your rank etc. What is your rank? With that I could give you a better picture.

Whoa. Haha, that is really fast. Kudos for not procrastinating.

If you’re an Auto-admit, you’ll get acceptance to school within a couple days.

For McCombs, it just depends how competitive you are holistically (not just rank as the person above insinuates). I applied in October, and found out in about two weeks by mail. I did have friends that applied earlier than I did (August) that didn’t hear back until march (wasn’t good news - and all were in top 1-2% of their schools). I’d like to say the average admitted student probably should hear back within 1-2 months. More than 3 and you should probably start worrying.

Don’t procrastinate to apply for housing. Do it ASAP!!!

Here’s my stats let me know what you think based on these

Current rank 21/386 around 5.5%
GPA: can’t recall around 3.8 I believe
SAT: 1820 CR: 610 M: 630 W: 580
ACT: 29 ENG:30 M:32 READ: 30 SCI: 25

College Credits of ENG- 1301, 2322, GOV-2301 2302 MATH-2413, 2414

Extra-Curriculars:
NHS- Jr. Sr.
Varsity Soccer- soph Jr. Sr. captain-Sr.

Sunday school teacher
Prom and dance committee
Foreign exchange club all years
Team Leader at Sonic Drive-In - May 2011- present
Track- Soph, Jr., Sr.
150-200 hours of community serive

Also have great letters of recommendation from my GM at Sonic, my soccer coach, my english teacher, my counselor, my kindergarten teacher and my grandfather who is a alumni

Your rank is there but if you have time I would retake the SAT, its really low to be admitted into McCombs

A letter from your kindergarten teacher? And one from a close relative? Really? Most places don’t want more than 2 letters, with 3 being the maximum. I don’t know how well your teacher remembers you but family members are typically considered off limits.

My son was admitted with one letter of recommendation.

Apply for housing!!!

Frankly, UT wasn’t my first choice, and since I didn’t think I’d end up at UT, I didn’t bother applying for housing. Ironically, I am now attending UT (and love it!!!) and made my decision on attending in April. I applied around the 28th of the month, and because of that, I didn’t receive traditional housing, but supplemental housing (a study room converted to suit three to four students).

You’ll be notified within two weeks or so. I’m not too sure about McCombs. Best of luck, and tell me how it goes!
