when will i found out if i got in?

I plan on sending in my application online next week and then giving the school reports to my gc to send in as well (I've already given my teacher the rec form). So if everything is in by September 15th, when should I hear back from Michigan?

They say 12-14 weeks or something. It really depends on your app. If it's great you'll hear back sooner. If it's average it might take longer.

Do you think I was a "low, border-line, just made it" student if I submitted end of October and didn't hear back until late-February? I think it was more than 14 weeks for me.

But late October is probably busier? I'm hoping mid-September people will hear back earlier.

Two years ago (Can I really say that now? ;) ), I submitted my application during mid-October and knew that I was accepted by the middle of December (so about eight to nine weeks or so). I guess it really depends whether you are in or out of state, your stats, how early you apply, and who/how many people you're competing against for a spot. However, if you send in your application now, don't expect to hear anything until the end of October at the earliest. They accept students in batches, and I don't believe they start making decisions known for the first group until about that time of the application season. Also, do know that the university is not afraid to defer your decision to a much later date if they feel that a decision cannot be made quickly.

Oh... Back when I was applying, I went to an information session, and the admissions rep. stated that the rule of thumb is to have your application in by Halloween in order to have it be considered early. However, I'd try to get it in way earlier than that if I were you guys (just to be safe) as the competition is getting more fierce. If that is impossible, shoot for Halloween.

when you turned you app in was it complete? Meaning that all the teacher recs were turned in at that time?

Me? Or someone else in this thread?

Michigan is rolling admissions but it does notifications in batches. The first batch is supposed to go out late October. If you apply within the next week, which is within the first month of them receiving applications, there's a good possibility you should find out between late October and Thanksgiving.

excel - If you were referring to me, I'm assuming they were. I gave my information to my GC and my teacher from whom I wanted a recommendation a few weeks in advance. I believe they sent out the information for me so I never saw their work myself. For some reason, I think I submitted my parts of the application around the 11th of October, Michigan's web site said I had everything in by the 18th (meaning it was in their files). Okay... I have no idea why or how I remember that. (I'm guess the reason is because I was obsessing about my application during that time. I was also timing how long it wasw taking them to respond. After that, I'm bound to remember the little things. :))

I had everything in on the last week of Sept last year and I got accepted in the 1st wk of Nov. which pleasantly surprised me because I was expecting it sometime around mid to late Nov. So while my buddies were just turning their apps in and playing the worrying game, I was just barely scraping by sr. year :)

I'm hoping that will happen to me bleeble blabble. :)

bleeble blabble did you have amazing stats or were you good or average?

Ok I just gave my gc the secondary school report and asked him when he thought I would hear back. He said probably within a month (after my app is complete). I REALLY hope that's true...then I should hear back by Halloween!

8-10 weeks for me. Not to mention my HS counselor forgot to send in my transcript.

My counselor just confirmed when everything would be sent in and my teacher already sent in the rec. This means that my app should be HOPEFULLY complete by September 8th (Friday!)!

Umm, there's no point in sending your application in like late August or early September in my opinion since the committee won't start evaluating them till at least mid-October. You might as well just turn it in late September and give yourself enough time to write some powerful essays, so you can be good standing to get accepted into the Honors College and perhaps even receive scholarships, unless you're a really weak candidate and are just worried about getting in to UMich of course.

Well, as stated on a previous thread, the admissions committee will see the date that they received your application. As far as taking the time to write good essays goes, you can just start earlier on in the summer rather than waiting until September to do your essays.

I'm sure they start evalulating applications before mid-October. The end of October is when the decisions tart being known.
