I know it is early, but I am just curious to know. When should I hear back/when did people start hearing back in the past?

Sometime “shortly”, you will see an acknowledgement that your application has been received. Either all the materials they need will be there (like your transcript) or not. Once everything is there, there will be a different message that they have everything they need and are considering your application.

Then…you wait. You may only wait until sometime in November, or you may wait until the end of January, or even the beginning of February. Shortly before you hear yea or nay there is another message that indicates a decision will be made “in the coming days”.

My daughter, HS class of 2010 didn’t hear until the end of January. Her boyfriend, HS class of 2009 heard around Thanksgiving.

It seemed like last year that people heard much earlier than in years past.

That’s how I remember it, anyhow.

^^ nicely summed up. I just wanted to add that it seems to depend on which college you applied to, and that order can vary year-to-year. Last year engineering seemed to go first, and communications is almost always last (mid to late January). So people who apply after you did may get an answer before you, but that doesn’t mean you will be denied. Try to check your status only once or twice a week, not every day. It will make you crazy!! Good luck!
