When will I hear back if I was accepted?

I submitted my application today for the fall 2011 term. When should I hear back whether I got in or not?

We had a prof from the Honors College speak to us last week and he said that USC doesn’t even look at applications until November 15, so there’s absolutely no reason to turn it in super early.

You most likely won’t hear back until at least January.

The reason the Honors College person told you they don’t start looking at applications until November 15 is, I believe, because that’s the deadline for submitting applications to the Honors College.
Last year, my D applied to the Honors College in advance of the deadline, and heard that she’d been admitted USC generally in mid December. About ten days later, ie right around Crhristmas, she heard that she’d been admitted to the Honors College. Then came the wait for the schloraship info, which played out over the February to March time period.

Hope this helps.

He was talking about USC in general though when he mentioned that.

They don’t look at your Honors College application until after you’ve already been accepted as a USC student. The Honors College is a two-step process.

I think the reason behind that is because of the early application date. Those are due by October 15 and they let you know in December.

But obviously, past experience is generally a better predictor.

I think it also depends on what your scores are. IE: If you’re a line student, it might take longer, but if you have good enough grades/scores to get you into Honors, then it is probably more of a no-brainer admission. That’s what I’ve been told happens at large publics, at least.

And Admissions policies can change from year to year. But if you applied under the early action program, you should hear the week of December 13. I noticed that when I was looking over my application today.
