When will I know if I get a callback for MT Steinhardt?

On the music thread mentioned by glassharmonica the OP found out he was not accepted and that is what I would take the letter to mean. Since the program requires an audition, if the OP was not offered one, it is a soft, but overly vague way of saying you are no longer under consideration.

Hi travelbugs2,

I tried to reply to this last night, but I am not seeing it in the post. The answer is no we have not heard anything new from NYU Steinhardt about the prescreen letter that says “…and at this time no further information or additional audition is required. Please be on the lookout for an admission decision from the NYU Office of Undergraduate Admissions in the coming weeks”. When we received this letter we contacted an admissions counselor that my daughter had already been in contact with and a professor at Steinhardt. Their answers were similar to one another. In summary they said "Your email is not a denial letter from NYU. It simply means that the Vocal Performance department does not need any further artistic information in order to render a decision. You will be receiving your official decision from NYU via email around April 1st and do not need to submit anything further at this point.

When we asked about what the prescreen letter meant and received the message (in my last post) from the admission counselor and Steinhardt professor, my daughter asked for further clarification and specifically asked about whether she would have to have an audition at the school to be accepted in to the MT/Voice program and he said
“All of our students are considered for programs holistically, evaluating both the audition and the application components. What you received is not a denial to the Vocal Performance department, but rather an indication that they have a good feel for your vocal abilities and can decide on their end whether or not you are a suitable candidate. You will receive official notification of whether or not you have been admitted by early April. This will be sent directly by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.”
We still have no idea what it really means and just have to wait and see. It is very confusing and frustrating, not to mention a wee bit nerve wracking! We wish your good daughter good luck travelbugs2.

Hi everyone,
I hope this helps. We received an e-mail in early January saying that my ds had passed the prescreen for MT/VP at Steinhardt. We had conflicts with the audition dates, and it is a very long trip. So we just re-taped his songs (they’ve grown and changed quite a bit by through the Unifieds audition process). They asked that we submit the final taped audition through Acceptd. So we did, and now we wait. My ds called to arrange this, and it did take a little time to figure it out. I also had the feeling that the storm had disrupted things but all seems to be working now.

Ewanes, Same thing here. My daughter’s callback was scheduled for the weekend of that big blizzard and we could not get there. The only date they could reschedule was a weekend we could not make. (we live in Michigan) It was a bit of a circus for her to try and get Acceptd to open her application back up to submit a final video and to really even get a response back from Steinhardt. (it takes them 2-3 days to even respond to an email or phone call). She did submit a video audition but is convinced that they “won’t even look at it”. I hope that is not the case. It would be a shame if the weather interferes with their decision.
