When will interviewers know their interviewee's decisions?

I know that some interviewers have this thing where they will automatically email one of their interviewees congratulating them on their acceptance... I know that's the case with my interviewer, as he said he would contact me if I did get lucky.

But I think that's a double edged sword, because if he DOESN'T email me, that'll mean that I know that I didn't get in.
So the real question is: about when do interviewers know their applicants' decisions? Before 5PM on Thursday, a bit after, on the dot 5:00?

The 29th is what the Princeton alumni coordinator in my area told my interviewer when we walked back through the common area after the interview.

mclkoz: I interview for a Princeton peer school. Area coordinators will get the list of accepts by the 29th but I highly doubt they will release it to the alum interviewers any time before the 1st or 2nd. There is a “no contact” window per NCAA rules for athletes. Thus, the Ivies tend to just have a black out window across the board. Plus they want to give the student every chance to find out from an official source (web portal) before getting a congratulatory call/email from an alum.

@hcar: there’s no way on earth your interviewer will know your fate before you unless you choose not to log in past April 2nd. I guarantee it

oh thank god/T26E4, that would have made me a very anxious person anticipating every inaction or action of my interviewer

This is just reinforcing my opinion that my interviewer was incredibly lame. She said nothing about this… our interview was only 20 minutes long and it was all me asking her questions instead of her asking me questions. (And I had a good friend who went right after me, and he said the same thing).

It bothers me… I don’t think I’m going to get into Princeton, but I have a strong enough application to at least be considered. It seems she just assumed I wasn’t good enough to even make an effort -.-

^ If it’s any consolation, none of my interviewers told me about it either. I think it is more just a welcome surprise.
