When will my decision be out?

I’m an International student from India. I have a 4.0/4.0 UW GPA. I sent my application in on 24th August and all documents were received by the second week of September. I applied with an SAT score of 1460/1600 (They also received my new score of 1490/1600 about two days ago) My major is CS. When will I most probably get a decision?

@pcwizkid143 did you apply to CSE or CLA? Also, your SAT scores are from the revised test correct?

@JBStillFlying I applied to the CSE. And yes, those scores are from the revised test. Thanks for replying.

@pcwizkid143 I can think of three scenarios: 1) they are delaying reviews of international applications for some reason (you should check with others you know who are applying to CSE as an international); 2) they are waiting to get more information on the new SAT range of scores (UMN seems to be using the College Board concordance as a preliminary reference but now that they are receiving actual scores they might be doing some analysis before releasing acceptances); 3) they are updating your file to include your new SAT score before sending (or re-sending) it to the committee.

Of course a 4th is that they just haven’t gotten around to it yet for some unknown reason. You never really know!

Your stats are very strong so you are probably - and understandably! - confident of being admitted. Under that circumstance it can be hard to wait. Just keep an eye on the thread and look for other international admits to CSE (can’t recall if there are any at this point).

BTW, what are your EC’s?

@JBStillFlying Let’s hope for the best. I’m right at the edge of the 75th percentile score so I might just get in, fingers crossed. My EC’s are nothing spectacular. Couple of Leadership positions, one national level achievement, an internship and a couple more regional level achievements.

@pcwizkid143 those are fine. I’m assuming also that your course rigor is fine (i.e. you are taking challenging coursework at your high school similar to most other internationals). The primary factors are GPA/Class rank, test scores, and course rigor. The secondary would be all the other stuff you mentioned. Looked at over the general pool of admitted students, your stats are, as you mention, in the top 75%. Even if internationals end up facing a different admit rate than domestic students (not unusual for top state uni’s) your stats are still right where they need to be. You might take a look at the following tables and compare your (concorded) math and EBRW scores to make sure they fall within the mid 50% range. If they do, then you are probably just consigned to play the waiting game till they get around to admitting the international students.

@JBStillFlying Yes, I lie in the mid 50% so I guess all one can do is wait. Thank you for replying so thoroughly and swiftly.

@JBStillFlying The decision is out. I was accepted. Thanks for the support.

Congrats @pcwizkid143! Very happy for you!

@pcwizkid143 how many days it took for you to get admitted? Also did you get an email/post or just on the tracker?I’ve also applied as an intl student for CS

@ChampBoy I received an e-mail and it showed the status on the portal too. Took me pretty long. I applied and sent all of my documents in the fag end of August.

Oh that’s way too early man .I sent it by Nov 1 deadline  Hope to get a decision soon .* Fingers crossed* BTW @pcwizkid143 did u get any notification about AES from UTD?

@ChampBoy I haven’t been accepted into UTD yet.
