Does anyone know why so many schools are still not offering tours? Some private schools and most public schools are offering tours but some are not. Why? They are outdoors! Any inside information when these schools will open up?
Brown
Emory
University of Chicago
Northwestern
University of Michigan
(I think Tufts announced recently).
I see Michigan just announced they are open for tours!
Brown currently has students in session (mostly freshman). Don’t know about the other schools but that might be a factor. We are finding that most schools in the northeast are open for tours (including inside buildings in at least some cases). My D 22 isn’t looking at any the schools you listed so can’t speak to them specifically.
Northwestern is holding in person tours: https://admissions.northwestern.edu/visit/experience/plan-your-visit/index.html
Call admissions at the other schools and ask when they are planning to open up for in person visits again.
Northwestern, Michigan, and U of Chicago are all open for tours.
U Chicago website says otherwise. Maybe only for admitted students?
I have. The just respond with the usual COVID response which doesn’t really make sense anymore.
A family member was able to sign up for a tour in July as a rising senior.
Brown hasn’t even told its tour guides when they’ll be in person again! I have a few friends who are virtual tour guides, and their current thought is that they’ll start back up in September when pretty much everything is back to normal.
Nobody here will know more than each college’s admission office.
We signed up for a tour at UofC. They are definitely doing them.
University of Michigan has tours. We did a tour of North campus Engineering last week. They have Central campus tours as well but they fill quickly.
Ugh. We are going to be there August 28. I guess we will do self-guided.
Perhaps, but people here might actually say what they know while the Admissions Offices are not.
Admissions offices will tell people what they know.
