I have gotten many different answers and the common app website isn’t very specific what I need to fill out or what will be deleted in july. Will the essays change over the summer and senior year and what does the common app website mean by 2015-16 Common Application Essay Prompts?
The Common App goes live on Aug. 1. All accounts made before Aug. 1 will be “permanently deleted from the system.” Do not put anything in before August unless you want to lose it.
so the essays are for next year or are they going to change on august 1st?
I think you can safely assume the “2015-16” prompts will stick around, since the website refers to the accounts that will be deleted (last year’s) as “2014-15,” making 2015-16 this upcoming year.

August 1st for the class of 2016. You cannot create an account before then. However, @bodangles, the prompts have changed slightly. The essence of the topics is the same, but they eliminated on of the prompts from last year. I think it’s the “special place” prompt. The new prompts can be found here:

…Yes, like OP said, those are the 2015-16 prompts. They were released earlier and will not change over this summer and the upcoming year.
@bodangles So if I already made an account (made it 3 months ago), I’ll have to refill everything, but I won’t be affected in any other way, correct?
@bringit1 As far as I can tell, it’ll basically be like you never made an account. So you should be able to use the same email and name to make a new one with no problems. Definitely write down every little selection or entry you have made so far, if you want to put it back in
