When will the PSAT cut-off be announced?

What part of April is the first PSAT cut-off (national cut-off) usually announced? Beginning or end?

Bumpty bump. Anyone know?

It isn't "announced". In late April/May students who qualify for at least commended status are notified. They are not told if they are commended or semifinalist - that letter comes in August/September. When people post here, we can generally determine the various cutoffs. Or sometimes the school counselors will tell.

There's not a national cut-off. National Merit is determined by state. My score got me a commendation in MD, but would've made me a semifinalist in many other states.

Commended is determined by a national cut-off.

Fire, that's what I mean by announced. It is announced in the sense that- well, it's announced. The score is released, it's just not with the information about whether it's semi- or commended. I have no shot at semi-, so I just care about the national cut-off!

If this helps at all.... Im fairly certain that the cut-offs will be dropping this year. (re-centered writing scale). If you want, search past threads to find out more details.

Haha. My writing jumped 4 points, while my CR went down 3... XD

do you guys think the cutoff for semifinalist will be lowered as well?

No one remembers from previous years what part of April the cut-off is announced?

This is from CollegeBoard calendar:

April 16 NMSC: Schools notified of high scorers on 2006 PSAT/NMSQT for National Merit Program's College Plans Reporting Service.

Thanks! Wow... almost another month.
