I'm a junior who took it back in september(around that time) and I got my score back, a 204 / 97th percentile. When will I know if that means anything? (Such as seminfinalist, or commended)

Cutoffs are never announced to the public. We can guess them as people are notified.

Anyone who is above the national cutoff will be notified in April or May, but you won't know if you are commended or semifinalist. Semifinalists are notified in late August/early September and commended are notified about a month later.

I got the same as you. There's a "good chance" (to quote the NMSQT) we'll get commended, but neither of us will get semi. As I understand it, 204 was the highest possible score for 97th- I believe 205 was 98th. Last year I believe 203 was in the 96th percentile.

Even though there isn't, that I know of, any type of "press release", the scores are announced to the public in the sense that they become public record. If anyone calls the NMSQT Corporation after the commended are notified they can be told the score, so we won't have to guess the cut-off.
