Just wondering... does anyone know the actual date admissions decisions letters will be mailed? Rather than the typical "early April," does anyone have any idea when the actual date is?

I'm wondering the same thing. I am dying to know whether I got accepted... this month is going to be nervewrecking.

yea..me too..i'm gettin more nervous as the date is approaching closer..

Last year's CC thread for Wes indicated that main batch was mailed April 1 and arrived at most places on the 3rd or 4th. URMs and athletes got their acceptance letters about two weeks earlier.

omg this last month is driving me INSANE :(

I don't see how anyone can concentrate on schoolwork this month. Has anyone figured out any mental tricks to get through the last semester without plunging grades?

uhhh, realize that at this point you've done all you can and there's no point stressing out about it because the admissions committee's decision has nothing to do with how much you worry?

and also that it really doesn't matter what you get for grades in your last semester of high school anyway....

I know, I know. But I can't get over the feeling that it will come back to haunt me somehow if I start racking up some Cs now.

That's not strictly true. I had friends freshman year who slacked off after being admitted early and got bad grades or dropped classes in their last semester of high school. Some of them were required to write a letter explaning the deficiencies that was forwarded to their faculty advisor at Wesleyan. In extreme cases people have to start on academic probation, and in the most extreme cases they could rescind your offer of admission.

Oh, thanks, xmatt.. my anxiety level has just cranked up again.

I just got my letter yesterday, but I hear that's because I'm a minority...

What do you consider bad grades? I had a 3.9 up until last semester, where I ended up with Bs in AP Govt and Calc, and a C in AP Physics. Somehow I still got in. I think I can get a B in AP Physics and an A in AP Govt, but if I don't is that considered bad???

Decisions should be out sometime soon. I just got my letter yesterday, and I'm caucasian.

almostmidnight: Did you specifically mark that you were Caucasian, or did you leave the race area blank? Are you a legacy/athlete/preferred for some other reason?

Sorry for the questions but as you can understand I'm incredibly anxious. XD

Yes, I specifically marked that I am caucasian. I am not a legacy, nor an athlete. As far as I know, I'm not preferred for any reason...sorry. I seem to be the only non-minority on CC to have gotten my letter.

It's a bit odd. No need to feel anxious, since no one else seems to know their status, either.

There is a list-serve on the wesleyan website, and an admissions officer on it had some comments that may be helpful.

"while many of you have already received your admission packets, the
vast majority of letters (all decisions) have yet to be sent and
access to this listserve, unfortunately, does not indicate
admission. We expect to notify the rest of the Class of 2011 by mail
next Friday, March 30th which means letters will land the early the
following week"

Not so helpful for those wanting to visit during public-school spring break!

Good luck to that vast majority!

Thank you, Alison! :)

yea, thanks Allison and I wish the adcom mentioned whether minorities decisions have yet to be mailed as well.
