The waitlist letter said something about "end of June" if I recall correctly. That seems garishly late--I heard more like end of this month?

When did students find out last year?

When did students find out last year?

Ooh, I just went through the old CC site and found that people's WL rejection letters were postmarked May 12 and 14...

I specified on my "regret card" that I wanted my spot to go to a CCer like Becky ;)

Oh, where are you going?

I wish you all the best of luck!

hey all,

i was waitlisted last year and i remember getting rejected from the waitlist on May 14th. The letter was dated May 14th, but I only received the letter on the 17th (I live in Missouri). You may want to check the yield rate for this year...the rate last year was close to 70%, so there was hardly anyone taken off the waitlist. you can get that info from your the alumni prez in your area. don't worry though...even if you don't get off, there are other schools out there and yale is so overrated anyways...

Don't hate on Yale!

The Yale yield rate last year was 66.8% (1,958 admits and 1,308 matriculants) and there were 8 taken off the waitlist.

One of the head admissions directors told me there were no acceptances from the waitlist last year, Byerly. Maybe the 8 extra people were from something else, but they weren't from the waitlist. Do you have a source though? It is possible that the admissions director was wrong.

i don't think it makes a difference. 8 or 0. point is, a very small number if any at all. don't see the point in arguing over minute details.

The "admissions director" was ill-informed.

(at p. 6: "Number of students admitted from the waitlist: 8"

My admissions officer called, and she said that they told her that they a) were definitely taking people from the waitlist, because they purposely underaccepted, and b) woudl be notifying people starting around May 20th. :)

That is interesting. Are you too on the waitlist, Bally?

May 20th is a week later than last year although I guess it isn't that bad.

Yup :) I'm actually on 3...waiting sucks...but I love where I'm going, so either way I'll be happy!

Do you guys think that they are just beginning or still in the process of choosing people from the waitlist right now or that they are basically already chosen?

I'm betting they haven't even started choosing yet.

Does anyone have any further information?

Also, in terms of housing and assignment to the residential colleges are the people taken from the waitlist at a disadvantage? Everyone tells me there is a clear hiercarchy.

A girl in my school got off the waitlist around a week ago I think. I'm not sure of the exact date, but I know it was at least a week ago.

A week ago? That seems awfully early. Can you find out any more details about this...cos the confirmation card said "mid-June" at the latest.
