^ My friend didn’t receive the Regent’s scholarship but instead qualified for the $10k a year Michigan Experience (or maybe Michigan Tradition) scholarship. So yeah, it’s definitely possible.

So if we’ve recieved the regents, is that basically all we’re going to get?

No. Your award could be increased from the regent’s to something larger, and you would find out about that this month via snail mail.

Good news today! I received the STAMPS SCHOLARSHIP from the School of Nursing! I’ll repost my stats in a bit for those who are interested. VERY EXCITED!!!

this may be a really really stupid question, but is there one scholarship form for ALL scholarships or multiple forms for each individual scholarship? and, if we are deferred, can we still submit scholarship stuff just in case we are accepted, or do we have to wait? (i have nothing to do now, so i would rather fill out scholarship stuff now)

oh wait nvm i found the info!

Congratulations, smart.cookie. Do you mind sharing what the Stamps covers? A friend of my daughter got it, but we never knew if it was tuition or a full ride, or what.

Congratulations, smart.cookie!!!

Way to go, Smart.Cookie – I am very relieved for you! Hope that makes your package work for you! The Fin Aid dept may help you with the rest, esp. if you explain about the non-contributing/custodial parentoid.
Fredmar - Stamps for OOS is $20,000 a year, I believe, for FOUR years and they only give out a handful. I believe it includes $ from LSA Dean’s list as well (eg 10/10 each year). It is a major honor. Instate, it’s $12,500.

Thanks everyone for the congratulations!

Here are my stats if this info is useful to future applicants:

Stats:
ACT: 34
GPA: 4.0
Rank: We don’t rank, but definitely top 5%
Other stats: Will be IB Diploma Candidate, 7 IB Tests
Subjective:
Essays: Carefully written, and as non-generic as possible
Teacher Recs: Not cookie cutter (couldn’t resist the pun) and personalized.
Counselor Rec: Well written
Hook (if any): Attended TASP
Location/Person:
State or Country: Michigan
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male

@Fredmar: They apparently give out 18 per year, and like kmccrindle said, $20,000 OOS and $12,500 IS. The cool thing is that the program also has special study abroad and internship opportunities (the letter is very vague, but I’m calling the Office of Admissions to ask questions and will share that info when I receive it).

That sounds great, smart.cookie. I recall another poster here from a year or two ago got the Stamps and was also in Nursing. Funny how that happens. I think CC Umich board is definitely well represented among the top merit scholars at Michigan. Another benefit of the Stamps that I have heard is that there is a participation requirement in the Stamps Society, and you therefore meet and get the benefit of getting to know a great group of kids at Umich right off the bat. My daughter is at the Art School, and the Stamps family is incredibly generous there, as Penny Stamps is an alumna of Art and Design. You should be very honored to be chosen for this scholarship.

Any OOS receive scholarships yet??

Congrats smart.cookie. However, has anyone received notification of being a Shipman finalist?

I give up…looks like I’m not going to be able to attend the University of Michigan…

I’m surprised at how little we have heard about anyone receiving scholarships. Wondering whether the CC board is faring really poorly or whether U of M is dispensing them really slowly.

don’t give up motion! looks like we are all in the same boat…

I’m giving it one more week…maybe two. Hopefully, there will be some good news in the way of scholarships for one of us CC’ers!

my son was notified of being shipman scholarship semifinalist, by mail, about 2 weeks ago. We live in Ohio.

Congrats to you son! Bad news for the rest of us. :(

^^What were his stats/EC’s? Also, if you are not lying, turns out the LSA scholarship guy lied to me…
