When you go to college, do you expect to/want to have fun? o_O

I'm just curious.
My cousin (a junior) decided to major in BME (biomedical engineering) at Carnegie Mellon and he is suffering--no sleep, little eating, no social life. He stayed at school for Thanksgiving to study -_-
He also swims and in order to stay on the team, he must maintain a 3.7 gpa.
It's been like this for him since freshman year in college.

I just cant imagine doing this without becoming depressed or burnt out...and my hair might start graying early >.<
How do you expect to approach and adjust to college life?

Definitely gonna make sure I have fun…I’ve suffered too much in high school lol social life definitely took a hit and watching all of my friends going out and partying while I was at home homeworking would drive me crazy sometimes.

I’m planning on majoring in Biology with a focus in Pre-Med, but I’m definitely gonna find a way to have fun. Might even rush a frat haha

I expect to, and want to, have fun. There better be time at whichever school I end up at or I’ll be ****ed lol

I want to have fun, but also make sure I’m setting up opportunities for the rest of my life, which will require working hard.

School is fun. I mean, being up at all sorts of night doing math, that’s amazing. Or creating your own large computer program.

I love what I plan on doing- so obviously that’ll be fun.

I want to have a social life as well, one that’s as good or better as the one I have now. I expect to create some best friends during my time as well! :)

I plan on having fun by my standards-- basically living in one of the most amazing libraries ever and reading and writing all day. I’m sure I’ll still be social, especially with the way housing is set up, that’s just not what makes me happiest.

I wanna have fun but not like crazy partying like people think. I dont wanna drink, just doesnt appeal to me. I wanna have a social life but focus on school too. I want to get into nursing so that will be fun on its own:)

I want to get involved and make some friends at college. Of course, I want to do well, but I’d become super depressed if I was at college for just… college and had no friends. Maybe I’ll rush a chill sorority or at least join a couple of clubs.

I wanna study a lot…But I also want to have a social life. I need to have a balance between the two in order to function.
Partying could be fun for awhile, but I don’t think I’ll be doing it that much.

I want to have a great time at college! Now, my idea of a good time may not be the same as others’, but still.

I’m clearly going to party every night. Clearly.

But seriously, have a 3:1 ratio of studying v having fun i suppose. Not that you can’t have fun while studying…or something like that. :D

My only fun will probably be joining the club soccer team and chilling with them.

Everything else will have to studying pre-med.

I.e. one of those people whose idea of a party is that hosted by the anthropology club? :D

i expect to and will have fun in college. then what’s the point of going. education is priority one but i think actually enjoying your time there is perhaps just as or even more important.

^^Yep! Lol.

I heard that you have a lot of free time in college. But that obviously depends on your major. A pre-professional major will probably be studying like crazy.

Yes, I plan on sticking to a strict schedule. I’m going to get all my work done, have fun, and get plenty of sleep. All of which is probably not going to happen… T_T

I wouldn’t want to “party” but I would like to do things like rock climbing/swimming/inner tubing , going to the arcade, having pizza. But a drinking party doesn’t appeal to me whatsoever.
