When you graduate do high schools send you a copy of your transcript?

I'm about to graduate from high school and was wondering if high schools typically send you a copy of your final transcript in the mail in case you ever needed to show it to someone (i.e. applying for jobs or scholarships).

If I want to see my final transcript am I going to have to go ask my guidance counselor for it or are they just gonna mail it to me with my 12th grade report card?

Thanks for your help.

My high school gives us a checkout sheet...and we write down where we'd like our final transcripts to be sent.

You should ask someone in your school's office about this.

Yea, you just ask your counsler and they can print one up for you in about 1 day

^^ well...a final transcript wouldn't be printed until after a school is out...that's why the OP is asking this question. They arent looking for a transcript now...but a final one.

yea, christalena gets what i'm saying. am i just gonna have to go once school is out to my guidance counselor to get a final transcript? just wondering, how long do high schools keep the transcript of graduated students on file?

^ I really think that your high school will mail the transcript where you want it to go. Ask your counselor....this week...how they do this. You shouldnt have to go after school is out.

Most high schools probably keep the files for a year or two...but my high school gave me a web address for a company where they send these transcripts, who keep them forever on file, and you just have to pay a small fee to get them. I don't know it at the top of my head though.

It depends on your school. Talk to your counselor not me.

This depends on school. Many I am aware of do not send you a copy of your transcript (except for final senior year grades) but you can request a copy, and have an official copy sent to a college or prospective employer when needed. High schools today generally keep your high school computer record (so they can generate transcripts when requested) indefinitely or send it to a storage company that keeps it indefinitely.
