what is your appointment time?

This isn't for incoming freshman right?

Incoming freshman here:
Phase I: June 6, 8 am (although it should be 16th as that's when I have my CalSO)
Phase II: July 24, 11:20 am

I'm guessing that this thread was posted because they were wondering why their Phase I said the 6th when they were in a later CalSO session.

Sophomore

Phase 1 May 2, 2008 1:30 PM
Phase 2 August 5, 2008 11:20 AM

My Phase 2 is so late :(

Yeah, I'm talking about incoming freshmen...what Rick said.

Phase I: Blank Blank
Phase II: July 25, 2008 10:20 AM

wow, i wasn't aware that they gave freshman such early phase II telebears times. with senior standing, mine is july 21.

Making up for late Phase I?

how do i post a new thread??????

What exactly is "Phase I"? :S

It's CalSO.

I ain't attending CalSO and mine says June 6th.

20Legend -

Telebears, the online system for registering in classes, operates under a division into two phases as an assist for students to get into their most critically needed classes. The logic is as follows:

The first phase, phase I, allows all students a shot at registering but with a cap of 10.5 units. This is less than the minimum for full time students, thus a student should register for the remainder of their desired classes in phase II, which begins once everyone gets a shot at Phase I. This way, you can prioritize the classes that you most need and/or the ones that have been the most difficult to get, requesting them in phase I.

During Phase II, you work on your remaining classes, which may be full by that time, but this gave some preference to those that most need to take the class. If you picked wisely, the remaining classes will still have room because they are not known to fill rapidly.

One can also waitlist for many classes which don't have room to book during your telebears Phase I or II. If it clears, all is good, but the waitlisted units count towards maximums! That is, waitlisting a 4 unit class in Phase I will leave you only 6.5 units for booking other classes during the phase. Besides the phase I limit, watch out for total unit per semester limits.

Once Phase II is done, there is an ongoing adjustment period for clearing waitlists, dropping classes you don't want, adding new classes that have room and general fiddling and fine tuning.

Since popular classes can fill quickly, one has to apply a bit of strategy to the whole registration process.

hey castel, how come your phase I is blank blank? mine is too... what does that mean?

& this may be a dumb question.. but do we have to go to the campus again for phase II?

for those of us not doing calso, it will be mid july :(

gokitty4 - Of course you don't have to go back to campus for Phase II (you can just log onto Tele-Bears from home). Don't you think it'd be ridiculous to force people to have to go back to Berkeley again just to sign up for a few more units (especially for people from SoCal or OOS)?

yea i was just making sure...
& a lot of things in this world are ridiculous, yet we still have to do it

Phase I is CalSO, where you register for 10.5 units of courses. QuixoticRick has his Phase I on June 6th when it should be on the 16th... maybe they took it out because they made a mistake? It'd be nice if he could double check again to see if they took it out or not.

OK so the text in red at the top of the page says my session is June 6th, but when I go to the "appointment" page it's just blank for phase I (as with Castel). To the OP: is that what you are seeing?

Yeah, after double-checking, that's what I have too. :-P
